048: Nexus Audio Guide

This is the audio version of the Nexus Guide, version January 2018 read by Jochen (Joe) Krebs for Scrum.org. Nexus is based on the Scrum Framework and uses an iterative and incremental approach to scaling software and product development. Nexus augments Scrum minimally with one new role and some expanded events and artifacts. The Nexus Framework was created by Ken Schwaber, co-creator of Scrum, and was released by Scrum.org, along with a body of knowledge, the Nexus Guide, in 2015 and updated in 2018. It preserves Scrum. 047: Larry Apke

Jochen (Joe) Krebs speaks with Larry Apke who is an author of agile books and a consultant for several large enterprises. A few years ago, he had a trigger event which made him organize a non-profit organization to teach people in transition for free. “The Job Hackers” helps people in transition to sharpen their skills in the job market and give them a chance to expand their careers. Learn more about his program and vision in this episode. The non-profit is dependent on donations but has gone through 3 years of successful programs. The proceeds of his books go 1:1 to the non-profit as well.

We talked about language changes in the new Nexus Guide, the role of the Nexus Integration team and most importantly when scaling makes sense in the first place. You will hear about how Nexus differs to some of the known approaches in the industry (e.g. Scrum of Scrum's) and how a framework for scaling can tackle the complexity of large Scrum programs better.

Both authors share the outline of their book and how a fictional company steps through typical challenges when going from a single to a multi-team Scrum.
